Treasuring These Days: A Thoughtful Approach to Aging
The very first question the Divine asks in the Torah is, “Ayeka?/Where are you?” We are invited into a process of understanding our spiritual location, including our understanding of our own mortality. Whether magnified by the recent pandemic, or by upcoming or recent retirement, family changes or health challenges, many of us have come to sense our own mortality in a keen way.
What better time to begin taking stock of our triumphs, our regrets, our baggage, our convictions, hopes, and fears than
during the Hebrew month of Elul?
Drawing from the vast literature about aging-both general and within the Jewish tradition-we will consider how we might make the journey, as Reb Zalman Schachter-Shalomi (z”l) called it, “from age-ing to sage-ing”. Twice monthly, we will gather on Zoom to learn, to listen and to be listened to as we take time to pause and consider how we might live our remaining days with wisdom and discernment.

Small Spiritual Direction Group Forming
An Invitation into Deeper Connections
This small group will engage with chant and text to help notice, explore, and expand our awareness of the Divine in our lives. Modeled after the practice of lectio divina / ”spiritual reading” we will focus on a small piece of text from our tradition. This will serve as a vehicle to check in with our soul’s yearnings and locate ourselves on our spiritual journeys. Through contemplative quieting, deep listening, and prayer we will create a sacred spiritual container within which to hear our still, small voices.
